The Australian Industry Renewable Heat Accelerator has been established to support Australian industry’s shift from gas to renewable energy process heat. The Accelerator seeks to support a broad range of mass market industries, including food and beverage, agriculture, textiles, chemicals, pulp and paper, ceramics, recycling, and other manufacturing.
Funding will be allocated under two streams:
Stream A: Industry Bodies
Stream B: Manufacturers, producers, and processors.
The Accelerator is an initiative co-led by Emma Peacock and Tom Connell with support provided by the Australian Alliance for Energy Productivity (A2EP) and financial support from philanthropic backers.
The Accelerator objective is to fund activities that contribute to one or more of the following outcomes:
Accelerated adoption of renewable heat technologies in mass market industries.
Greater industry awareness and consensus on the benefits of renewable heat technologies.
Unlock additional investment and funding support for renewable heat technologies.
The initial total funding allocated to the accelerator is up to $270,000 ex. GST, with grants up to $20,000 ex. GST. Applicants are expected to provide co-funding for at least 50% of Project costs.
The types of activities that will be supported under the Accelerator include:
Sector / business / facility decarbonisation road-mapping
Renewable heat options and feasibility studies
Renewable heat pilot projects and appliance swaps
The process for applying for a grant involves:
Reviewing the Funding Guidelines
Sharing summary details about the project and answering brief screening questions (detailed in the Funding Guidelines)
Completing an application form and providing supporting documentation
If successful, negotiating a short-form funding agreement.
